Todd is the writer and producer of A Satanist Reads the Bible, a podcast on philosophy and religion, and has written, recorded, and published over one hundred essays since launching the project in 2018.
Following a military career working as a propagandist and propaganda analyst for the U.S. Army, Todd returned to school to study music, education, and Eastern religion. Over the last decade, he has performed hundreds of shows as a musician for the performing arts across dozens of productions, and has written and produced music for many others.
Todd's interest in religion concerns the relationship of modern ideology to the world's many sacred texts. He draws on his training as a propaganda analyst and knowledge of languages to analyze the texts and demonstrate that what they contain, and what is said about them, are often two very different things. Philosophically, he draws his influence from Plato, Friedrich Nietzsche, Georges Bataille, Jean Baudrillard, and many others. He is particularly interested in critiques of postmodern culture and the political and economic structures of postmodern humanity along the lines of Karl Marx, the Frankfurt School, and contemporary critical theorists.
Outside Medium, Todd's work can be read at asatanistreadsthebible.com, and his podcast is available on most platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
